Who operates the app
Let’s Build Travel Plans is developed by Let’s Build Apps HQ, referred to here as “we”, “us” or “our”. Send privacy questions through the support form.
We do not sell personal information, use it for advertising, or track you across other companies’ apps and websites. Travel Plans 2.0 does not require an account, Sign in with Apple login or Supabase account.
Trip information stays on this device
Trips, itinerary items, packing lists, payments, document references, traveller details, emergency contacts, notes, settings and archive information are stored in the app’s private container on your iPhone using Apple SwiftData.
The app has no developer-operated account or trip database. It does not include an advertising or analytics SDK.
Booking files and optional iCloud Drive
Files you deliberately attach—such as booking PDFs, tickets and photos—are stored in the app’s private Documents area. You can optionally move these booking files to the app’s private iCloud Drive container so they are available through your Apple account. This setting affects booking files only: trip facts remain stored locally on the device.
Apple operates iCloud and applies the iCloud settings, security and retention associated with your Apple account. We do not receive your Apple password or get a copy of your files on a Let’s Build Apps HQ server.
Files, photos and import limits
The app can import files or photos only when you choose those actions. Imported files are limited to 50 MB. The app may read file metadata needed to display, categorise and open the attachment, but does not upload it to us.
Ideas, maps and optional photos
- Apple Maps: destination and activity searches send your search words and, when available, the trip destination’s map coordinates to Apple. MapKit retrieves map imagery for previews and itinerary cards. The app does not request your current device location. Manual planning remains available offline.
- Manual ideas and HTTPS links: you choose the details and optional photo to save in Ideas. Saving a link stores the link and its title without fetching or scanning the page. Websites, directions and external research services open only after you select an external handoff; the destination service then applies its own privacy practices. Search results are not aggregated ratings or verified availability.
- Place-photo search: when you choose Find place photos and search, the app sends the words you enter to Wikimedia Commons. Result previews load automatically after that search; chosen photos also load from Wikimedia’s servers. The provider’s collection and retention are explained below. Your full itinerary, notes, documents and personal photos are not sent for this search, and the app does not attach an app-account or advertising identifier. Avoid including sensitive information in search words. The app offers images marked CC0 or public domain and retains source/author details inside the downloaded image. Check the source before use. Coverage varies; your own Photos, Files and map-cover options remain available.
- No AI service: the journal’s place discovery uses Apple Maps and your own research, not generative AI. Cloud AI is disabled. The app does not send your trip to an AI provider or charge a subscription.
Wikimedia photo-search records
Wikimedia’s published web-request documentation and API-request documentation describe collection and retention of search terms, IP addresses, User-Agent information and technical request metadata, including request URLs, response/error codes and timing. Its traffic records also include coarse geographical location derived from the IP address, not GPS location or simply the destination you type.
Under Wikimedia’s privacy policy, these provider records support service operation, security, diagnostics and analytics to understand and improve its services. Search terms and technical records may be associated with your IP address before later deletion, aggregation or de-identification. This does not mean Travel Plans knows your identity. The app has no advertising or analytics SDK and does not use this flow for advertising tracking; that does not prevent Wikimedia’s own collection and analytics. An ephemeral network session on the iPhone does not prevent remote retention.
Wikimedia’s retention guidelines generally provide for deletion, aggregation or de-identification of IP and search-term records within 90 days. Stated exceptions include occasional 180-day web-request retention and longer retention for backups, legal or security needs. These are the provider’s published practices, not a guarantee that every request is kept for exactly 90 days or that all copies disappear within 90 days. We have not independently verified the retention of an individual app request.
Saving a link from another app
When you choose the Travel Plans share extension in another app, it accepts a complete HTTPS link and an editable title. You choose a trip before saving. The app and extension use a private App Group container on this device to pass the selected link and title, the target trip identifier and title, and a request identifier and timestamp. A minimal trip list containing trip identifiers, titles and destinations lets the extension show its trip chooser. It does not share your itinerary, notes, spending, traveller details, documents or photos with the extension.
Saving queues the link locally. Open Travel Plans and confirm its import into Ideas before it is added to a trip. Neither the extension nor this import fetches or scans the page. The pending link is removed after a successful import; unreadable items are retained for recovery. This local handoff does not send the link or trip list to a developer server.
Sharing an itinerary
You can preview a selected day or whole itinerary as a PDF, or a selected day as images, before choosing a destination in Apple’s share sheet. This export uses a limited set of fields: the trip title and destination; the selected days’ dates and headings; and activity titles, types and confirmation status. You can choose whether to include activity times, Apple Maps directions links and the selected cover photo. Photo source credit accompanies a credited cover.
Itinerary PDFs and day images exclude documents, booking references, spending, traveller details, private notes and other attachments. Review the preview: titles and other included fields contain the text you entered. Moving or copying an activity with its photo happens within your local trip and does not send it to another person. Nothing is shared silently.
Full trip backups
A full trip backup is a separate export from the limited itinerary PDF or day images. It includes trip details, notes, photos and attached booking files, and may contain private information that the itinerary export excludes. It is a readable JSON file, not an encrypted vault. Only export it to a destination you trust. Restoring creates new local trip copies and does not replace existing trips. Downloaded cover-photo source details remain in full trip backups. Copies you save or share outside the app are not removed when you delete a trip.
Paid-upfront purchase
The planned App Store release costs £3.99 paid upfront in the UK, with Apple’s equivalent prices elsewhere. Apple processes the purchase; the app does not collect your payment-card details. There is no subscription or in-app purchase. Private TestFlight testing remains free; public release is still being prepared.
Data access and deletion
If the local SwiftData store cannot be opened, Travel Plans stops loading trips and preserves the existing store and files. It does not automatically move, delete or replace an unreadable database with a new empty one.
You can archive trips and permanently delete them from inside the app. Day and activity deletion offers an eight-second Undo window while that option is available; it is not a backup or a way to recover a permanently deleted trip. Deleting the app removes its local container. Booking files moved to iCloud Drive may remain in iCloud until you remove them through the app or your Apple iCloud storage controls.
Children and sensitive details
Travel Plans is a general travel-planning utility and is not directed to children. You control the information you enter. Avoid adding passport numbers, medical details or other sensitive information unless it is needed for your trip and you are comfortable storing it on the device or in your private iCloud Drive container.
TestFlight and release status
This policy covers Travel Plans 2.0 during private TestFlight and release preparation, including the journal update with Plan, Ideas and Essentials, confirmed shared-link imports, selected itinerary sharing, activity moves and copies, and deletion Undo. Features depend on the installed build. Trip sync and collaboration are disabled; optional iCloud Drive storage applies only to booking files. We will update this policy if the release implementation or data handling changes.
